FLORAL WOOD DIY SIGN

I love adding in something round to break up my decor on my mantle and shelves. And our previous HOP sign was so cute, I tried another similar DIY idea. 

Here's what you need

1. Round wood sign (from Michaels)
2. Flower wood shapes (from Michaels)
3. Paint and Paint brushes
4. Glue Gun

I used the same round sign as in my previous HOP diy sign, but added some painted flower to make a little collage. I allowed the girls to each paint their own flowers, and then we arranged them onto the sign. Then I glued them together!

Here's the simple guideline...

1. Gather your sign, flowers, paint and paint brushes.

2. Start painting everything!  I tried to get the girls to paint the flowers a few different colours so it would look more colourful once we put it together. We used a light pink paint for the round sign. 

3. Let dry a few hours. Then use your glue gun and hot flowers to the circle sign.

Its the perfect piece for their book wall or play space. So fun and easy!

EASTER MATH ACTIVITY

Our homeschooling journey is going to get started pretty soon! My girls are SO excited they get to learn from home. And my son made fun of me having to teach him Gr 4 math. I'm a litle scared myself. Haha!

But before that all begins, I came up with a simple and fun math activity for my girls. I added some Easter fun, but you can truly customize it for any age and for many differnet activities. I love that they are still ages where they love to learn and are so curious!

Here's what you need:

1. Empty Egg Carton

2. Reuseable easter eggs

3. Strips of paper

And to get started, this is all the prep you need. 

1. Take your strips of paper and write out your activity you want to work on. Mine was addition. For Maddie (Gr 1) I did addition of numbers up to 20. For Ellie (pre-k) I did addition of numbers up to 10 so she could count on her fingers. 

2. Add the papers into each egg.

3. Place all the eggs in the carton.

4. I added a special egg with a surprise in it!

You can work on so many things for this activity. A few ideas would be math (addition, subtraction, multiplication), phonics/phograms, sight words, syllables, counting (you could add beans or pasta for counting), sorting colours, etc. And I added a surprise for encourage them to have fun. I did some gummy bears, but you could do non treat ideas like tattoos, stickers, pencils, erasers, etc.

The girls truly loved this activity, and asked me to do the same the next day as well.

PANDEMIC COVID-19

On March 11, 2020 the World Health Organization declared Covid19 a Pandemic.

We had been hearing stories on the news and internet aout the Coronavirus and it's spread in China and a few other parts of the world. I never thought it was as serious as it is now, and hearing the news that day was a wake up call.

I didnt know what to think, but I knew that it meant things were definitely going to change.

Knowing that the entire world is going through the same thing was both frightening and reassuring. Praying for our people worldwide, for health care providers, and leaders on knowing how to bring us through this.

EASTER DIY HOP SIGN

We love a good DIY around here and I have a few to share for spring and Easter coming up. I love decorating our home for each season and holiday, and I've been breaking out all the bunny things lately.

For this project, all you need are paint, paint brushes and a glue gun. Plus, the added materials from the store. And this is a perfect little craft for you mamas and your little ones. Its really so easy. 

HOP wood sign

This is one of my favorite projects we've done!
I love that it looks so good as decor and is something you can bring out year after year.

Here's what you'll need...

1. Round wood sign (from Michaels)

2. Cardboard/wood letters (from Michaels)

3. Paint and Paint brushes (I love pastels for spring. So pretty!)

4. Glue Gun 

I purchased the wood sign and letters from Michaels. The sign was $11.99 and the letters were $2.99 each. Dont forget to use your coupon for an added savings. 

I love the look of the soft pastel colours, but you can use anything you like! We did a light pink for the round sign and a light peach for the hop letters. And if you dont have any pastel colours, just add white paint to any primary colours to make your own custom pastel. We do this all the time!

Here we go...

1. Gather your sign, letters, paint and paint brushes.

2. Start painting everything! Remember to do the sides for all the surfaces to get a clean, polished piece. You may have to help little ones with this part. 

3. Let dry a few hours. Then use your glue gun and hot glue the letters to the circle sign.

I had to paint the letters a few times to get the paint bright. Its a darker tone to start with, so give it a few coats. I'd say 3-4 coats will do it.

And that's it! Super easy and simple.
