HALLOWEEN CHARCUTERIE

Lately, I've been loving making a fun little festive charcuterie board for the seasons. They are realy fun to make, and you can easily use items you have at home in your cupboards. The trick is to having a good variety of snacks and making sure you have enough so there's no gaps.

We had some leftover sugar cookies from our Halloween party and I thought they would make the cutest addition to a snack charcuterie board.

I added a few extras like cheeze its (for a bit of salty), pumpkin creme candies, shreddies cereal, marshmallows and some mini muffins. It was so easy to put together and literally gone in no time!

HALLOWEEN PARTY

This is the first year I've thrown the kids a Halloween party, but it was a huge hit! My kids loved it so much! We decided that we would probably not be going trick or treating, so I wanted to do something fun and special for them. We just kept it to our little ones, and they really had such a fun time.

I got the cutest Halloween party supplies at a local Canadian owned shop Party Et Cie, and they really set the tone for the party. I didn't want to do anything too spooky, and loved the pastels additions. And Ben loves bats, so I wanted to incorporate those in a cute way.

I didn't do anything to elaborate, but we had waffles, fruits and sugar cookies made by a local cookie maker Hayes Sweet Bake shop. The cookies were so perfect - soft pastels and really adorable! I loved that she was able to personalize them. When the kids saw their names on the cookies they were so excited. They were the perfect place settings!

A few more pictures of the details from the party. I'm so excited I was able to start this tradition this year!

HALLOWEEN DIY'S

The last couple of years, I've been enjoying more and more Halloween decorations and accessories. I love that there are so many more variations of traditional Halloween colour schemes, and I'm totally on board with that.

Last year, close to when Annie was born, I did a few little gifts for the kids for when we were at the hospital with her. I don't usually do too much for Halloween but it was something fun for them and now I feel like it's something I'll always remember and try to keep up with.

This year I did a big BOO basket for all the kids to share. I got them some Halloween jammies, books/dvds, accessories and I'll include a few little fun treats as well.

I've been doing some fun diy's with my kids that we're sprinkling around our home. There's something so fun and satisfying making something yourself and using it as decor around the house.

These are all really fun, easy and simple. (That's definitely my idea of a fun little project).

CHALKBOARD TAGS

I love personalizing things for me kids...and I think they love having things with their own names on it too. I honestly think it makes them feel so special.

I saw these chalkboard tags at Michaels in black and I thought they would be so fun to use for Halloween baskets. And I can envision them for so many other things as well like storage baskets, gift wrapping holiday baskets...etc!

I have been really enjoying working on my penmanship and calligraphy when I can and just tried it on these tags. They are by no means professional at all, but fun and cute...which is good enough for me!

I practiced first on a piece of lined paper, then wrote very lightly on the tags in pencils and then went over it with a metallic sharpie. Once it dried, I used an eraser and just erased my pencil markings. I cannot wait to use these tags this year!

HALLOWEEN SIGNS

I got this idea from instagram and loved how they looked! I'm not really a black/white/orange Halloween lover...but add a few softer colours like pinks and peaches...and I'm sold!

I made 3 fun little signs all using materials from Michaels.

Materials:

Thin wood board
Wood letters
Paint
Paintbrushes
Metallic Sharpie

I mixed and matched my colours until I got the peachy/pinky colours I wanted.
Attached all the materials with hot glue.
Used the same idea of calligraphy/handwriting as before...starting on paper, then lightly penciling and then going over with sharpie or paint. The sharpie was much more easy to control when writing, but the thick strokes of paint do stand out alot more!

BOO & HOCUS POCUS SIGN

I love the idea of something round going up on the walls and shelves. All our frames and furniture are so straight looking, round items always balance them out.

I love these round signs from Michaels and I have been making my own simple signs using wood letters that I paint and hot glue on. I love that I can customize the colours and write fun little sayings for each season/holiday.

I originally made the BOO sign first and loved how it turned out. Its so simple and fun.

Then I saw the spooky font letters at Michaels the other day and thougth it would be so cute to do a HOCUS POCUS sign as well. The letters were on clearance at my store which sold me on the idea. I got some wood stars, painted them as well and then glued them on too!

Happy crafting friends, and hope this give you some holiday inspo!

FALL FORAL FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY

I cannot believe my baby is one years old. How did this year fly by so quickly? Our sweet girl is getting so big and each day is so fun with her.

Annie was actually not feeling well for her actual birthday. She had a slight fever and had been fussy all day long. We decided to wait until she was feeling better to celebrate. And I'm so excited to share her little family birthday we had for her. I went with a fall inspired floral fairy garden theme which I thought was so sweet for a baby's birthday.

Some party details!
I got the cutest party supplies from a Canadian shop Party Et Cie. I got big paper flowers that I stuck to our mirror with 3m hooks. The girls and I painted wooden dolhouses from the dollar store in pastel colours. I added a few garlands I had already in my house. Add in some fall pumpkins to give it a more fall feel. I set the table up with floral table settings, sugar cookies, pancakes on cake stands, and cheerios in the cutest little snack cups. I used mini cake stands to make the cookies stand out, and of course, confetti down the middle of the table.

We included her favorite things like pancakes, fresh fruits and cheerios. And even though I'm sure she didnt know it was her birthday, she loved it. I ordered her the cutest little sugar cookies (my favorite for parties!) and she got to try her first little treat. And she loved it!

Sweet girl, we're so happy to be celerating you! You are such a joy and we cant wait to see what this year brings you!
