EASTER TOFFEE TREAT

This is one of my favorite little treats. I make it at a few different times in the year and I love changing it a bit for an Easter themed treat. See my Valentines Toffee edition here!

It's veeeery simple to make and it's so satisfying and yummy. My kids love it and always try to sneak a taste. A few pieces went missing as I tried to photograph them. Haha!

For Easter, I cut up some mini eggs and topped the toffee with marshmallows and mini eggs at the end. I tried to place the mini eggs with the shells showing so it shows of the pastel colours. I let the marshmallows sit for a few minutes and they started to soften and melt a bit. After a few minutes when they were starting to mel and set, it pushed them down gently to make them look a bit squishier/gooier. I love that you can change your toppings for different times of the year.

Ok, here's the recipe!

EASTER TOFFEE

40 Saltine Crackers
1 cup butter
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1 teasp vanilla
1 1/2 cup chocolate chips
toppings (I used marshmallows and mini eggs, but you could use pastel m&ms, toffee chips, chocolate drizzle...)

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread crackers out in an even layer.
2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar. When the mixture starts to boil, stop stirring and let it boil for 3 minutes.
3. Turn off heat and stir in vanilla. Pour mixture evenly over crackers and spread out evenly. Bake for 5-6 minutes.
4. Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over top. Return to oven for one minute. Take out of pan and spread chocolate with a spatula in an even layer. Add toppings as you wish!
5. Let pan cool and then freeze for 15-20 minutes. Break or cut into pieces and enjoy!

EASTER TABLESCAPE

This Easter is going to be looking alot diffeent for our family being under qurrantine. We won't be able dress up for church or see our extended family. But I'm hoping that even though we can't go out, we can still celebrate and make it feel extra special at home.

I'm really excited to share our tablescape for Easter! I love Easter and think it's such a joyful  and hopeful holiday. Exactly what we need during these times.

Confetti makes the table look like it's time to celebrate! I had some leftover from my daughter's birthday party which was perfect to set the mood. I added mini cake stands and flower bowls, along with some adorable bunny plates. I'll be filling the bowls with fruit and other sweet goodies for us to munch on during brunch. The cookies added a fun personalized touch and I can't wait for the kids to see it next weekend.

I hope this gives you some fun ideas if you're planning a meal at home this Easter!

EASTER BASKET IDEAS

Spring is here! I love that our days are getting longer and brighter. Its such a wonderful time of year to look forward to.

This year I can't believe I'll be filling 4 little baskets for my kids. I love that I get to do a baby basket this year as well as for my bigger kids. I'm excited to share a few non-candy ideas here. But I'll definitely be sneaking a few treats into their baskets as well.

With the pandemic this year, I just want to share that truly Easter is not about going overboard on baskets and what to fill them with. I honestly love making these little holidays special for my children, but kids are so amazing and will find the magic in the smallest gestures.

But I'm happy to share what I've been collecting to offer any inspiration if you're needing it. Some of the things I'm putting in are from small shop which I love supporting, and some from amazon!

BABY BASKET

I'll only get to fill her little baby easter basket once! Such sweet times. I've been collecting some things for her over the last few months, and I cant wait to add some of those into her baskets. Most of these are things I was already planning on giving her...but its a great excuse to fill and decorate something special for her.

I'm including a swaddle blanket, soft soled shoes, baby bows, a teether, silicone plate/bowls/utensils, a book (here comes spring) and sunnies. Just a few goodies for her.

GIRLS BASKETS

I absolutely love filling the girls easter baskets. I find that there are so many options for cute little accessories for them. And they love it all. Like ALL the little fun things.

This year is will definitely be different. I love collecting little things everywhere I go, but since we've been quarrantined, I obviously won't be doing any of that kind of buying. This year I've truly had to be content with what I've already purchased and not do too much extra.

This year I'm including bows and clips, easter books (my 2 new ones this year are Too Many Carrots & Egg), bracelets, flip flops/jelly shoes, bunny change purse, fun flippy pen, chapstick and sunnies. I love adding a few things they'll need for summer coming up, and a few little items they get to play with as well.

BOY BASKET

My son's basket is definitely getting a little harder and harder to fill. I'm including books (usually non Easter ones now), pens/pencils, pokemon cards, a tshirt, a few extra treats (like gum), a small card game, and a stress ball.

EASTER INITIAL DIY TAGS

Easter Initial tags

I purchased some simple wood tags from Michaels a few weeks ago. I loved our previous painting projects so much I decided to try something similar. I love the idea of personlizing the kids Easter baskets this year, and thought this would be so fun to create together. I love how you can really personlize it with their favorite colours, and it's something you can use year after year.

The materials were all from Michaels and they were SO affordable. I believe the letters came in a pack of 2 for $2.99 and the tags were $0.49

Let the kids get creative on colour combos and let them paint their tags and letters. Once dried, all you have to do is hot glue them together. I added some twine to attach to a basket. That's it!

1. Gather your wood tags, wood initials, paint and paint brushes.
2. Start painting everyting!  I suggested colour combos that go well together...and all in pastel colours. But there are so many colour combos that would look really pretty and fun. I suggest painting all sides of the letters and tags. It makes it look more finished and complete.
3. Let dry a few hours. Then use your glue gun and glue the letters to the tags. Add wtine, and you're ready to go. Easy!

The added bunnies to my baskets were from Homesense from a few years ago. But pom pom and tassels would be a cute addition to the tags. And leaving them plain is just as good too!

All you need to do now is attach to any easter basket. I found these berry baskets at Target in the Dollar Spot, and decided to use these ones. I like that theyre smaller than a traditional basket, and I can see them being used in our house all year round to gather up little items.
