Oh you know, just mashing bananas and twirling her hair at the same time! Hah! |
When I'm baking with the little people, I use a few tricks to make it a bit easier with little helping hands.
- If I have time, I'll try to get all the dry ingredients into one mixing bowl before we start. (This helps speed up the process!)
- I try to look ahead and see what measuring cup sizes and spoons I'll need and get them set out.
- When I'm baking with Maddie we work on counting at the same time! (Lets count how many ingredients, how many muffins in each tin, how many cups of sugar/flour/eggs, etc...)
- I have one set of stainless steel measuring spoons and one plastic set as well. When baking with little ones, I always use the plastic set so it's easier to hold for them.
- After we finish the actual making of the treats, I'll spend some time cleaning up and washing dishes. Then I'll sometimes leave a few little items that I've already rinsed fairly well (like a mixing bowl, measuring cups and maybe a spatula/spoon) and let her clean up and wash at the end. I've found they love using a sponge or bristle brush with some soap and water to help clean up.
